Greetings to members and welcome to our Intro to The Pottery Studio, an integral part of the Mandurah Arts and Crafts Society.
Pottery is much more than pots!!
Those who have never stepped inside a pottery studio before will discover a new world of creative possibilities. We welcome everyone who has a desire to experience clay construction, irrespective of skill levels.
Clay is one of the most re-cyclable products in the world and can be moulded, poured, rolled, pressed, squeezed, pulled, slabbed, and sculpted into almost any shape. Our studio is well appointed with a large kiln, wall extruder, slab roller, wedging table, spraying booth and potter’s wheels which we encourage members to use in the development of their projects.
Members who attend pottery groups are given a basic intro to clay and shown simple techniques that enable them to design and create their own unique pieces. Although we do not hold structured classes the facilitators (Lynda and Alison), are on hand to guide members who are inexperienced with initial pottery techniques.
We encourage hand building and wheelwork, which is fun and engaging, where a wide range of ornamental and functional pieces can be produced.
So, unleash your imagination!
